Who Was Nostradamus?
Michel de Nostredame (1503–1566), universally known as Nostradamus, was a French physician, astrologer, and one of history's most celebrated prophetic figures. His 1555 work Les Prophéties — a collection of 942 poetic quatrains — has fascinated scholars, mystics, and curious minds for nearly 500 years. Interpreted by generations of readers, his cryptic verses have been linked to events ranging from the French Revolution to the rise of Napoleon, the World Wars, and beyond.
Nostradamus Predictions 2026
Interpreters of Nostradamus's quatrains have identified several verses believed to relate to 2026. Among the most discussed are prophecies pointing to significant geopolitical realignments, dramatic climate and environmental events, and the rise of transformative technologies that reshape how humanity lives and communicates. One frequently cited quatrain references "the great thunder" from a new world power — interpreted by modern scholars as a period of dramatic international tension resolving into unexpected cooperation.
Whether or not one takes these interpretations literally, Nostradamus's work endures as a remarkable lens through which people seek meaning in uncertain times. Our Ask Nostradamus tool draws on the themes and wisdom of his writings to offer you a prophecy tailored to your question and birth date — a reflection, not a prescription.
How to Interpret Your Prophecy
Nostradamus himself urged readers to approach his quatrains with openness rather than rigid literalism. The best way to use your prophecy is as a prompt for reflection — consider what the message might mean in the context of your current situation. Many users find that the themes of their reading speak directly to decisions they are already wrestling with, offering clarity or courage when it is most needed.
